JOB SUMMARY

The CDL driver is responsible for transporting finished goods and raw materials over land, to and from manufacturing plants, retail and distribution centers. This person will also be responsible for planning routes and meeting delivery schedules as well as complying with truck driving rules and regulations. Other duties may also include inspecting the vehicle for mechanical issues relating to safe operation and basic repair work. Must be able to pass background check and drug test.

 

 ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Drive long distances to deliver good to customers
  • Load and upload the cargo
  • Deliver all good/products on a timely manner
  • Record cargo deliveries
  • Refuel and clean vehicle
  • Report road accidents to the company/supervisor
  • Report traffic violations to the company
  • Report mechanical issues to supervisor
  • Follow traffic laws
  • Keep an activities log and log hours
  • Maintain a positive attitude when dealing with customers
  • Keep commercial license up to date

 

 

REQUIRED SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE

  • Valid Class A driver's license required
  • Clean driving record with no moving violations
  • Skilled at driving large vehicles
  • Comfortable maneuvering and parking a tractor-trailer
  • Alert, focused, and detail-oriented
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. at a time
  • Able to operate an electric lift, hand trucks, pallet jacks, etc.
  • Proficient using GPS and other routing systems
  • An innate sense of direction
  • Must encompass a mental stamina
  • Disciplined, dependable, and resourceful
  • High level of composure and good stress management

 

 

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE

  • Must possess a valid Class A (CDL) driver's license
  • 2+ years of proven experience with semi-truck/trailer driving preferred
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent preferred
  • Extensive knowledge of applicable truck driving rules and regulations in compliance with Colorado Department of Transportation

 

PHYSICAL AND MENTAL DEMANDS

The environmental factors and/or physical requirements of this position include the following: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to have ordinary ambulatory skills sufficient to visit other locations; and the ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and ability to lift up to 50 lbs. Requires good hand-eye coordination, arm, hand and finger dexterity, including ability to grasp, and visual acuity to use a keyboard. The employee frequently is required to sit, reach with hands and arms.
